Fire Rescue and EMS

“East Wise Fire Rescue” is a nonprofit that does business as (DBA) “New Fairview Fire Rescue” (NFFR). By contract it provides fire and rescue services to the city of New Fairview area located in Wise County. The NFFR contract cost is $52,800 per year; paid monthly ($4400).  New Fairview provides NFFR with two stalls inside the New Fairview Multi-Purpose Building located on FM407, next to City Hall.  This is a more centralized location for NFFR than the original EWFR Station 1 located north of New Fairview on FM2264. A fire station on FM407 helps decrease response time and provides for equipment prepositioning flexibility.

Justin Community Volunteer Fire Department (JCVFD) contractually provides the Denton County side of New Fairview with fire/rescue and ambulance Emergency Medical Services (EMS).  The JCVFD contract cost is $21,000 per year; paid monthly ($1750). Paloma Ranch development is in Denton County.  It has the highest residential assessed property valuations of any development in New Fairview. Their city property tax easily funds the JCVFD contract. There is a “mutual aid” agreement between JCVFD and NFFR.  Both County’s mutual aid/assistance agreement works as designed because both service providers are fairly compensated by New Fairview.  This is entirely to the benefit and safety of our residents/businesses.

Ambulance Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is provided to the Wise County section of New Fairview by Wise County EMS.  This vital service does not cost New Fairview any money. County EMS is provided to all Wise County because money that funds EMS is derived from both incorporated cities and unincorporated county (half cent sales tax and county ad valorem property tax). WCEMS has an ambulance and crew stationed 24/7 at the Multi-Purpose Building on FM407.

As New Fairview grows, the public safety contracts will be analyzed annually and revised to best fit the needs of the citizens.  For the next few years I do not see a need to change our providers or contract structure.  But I do expect cost of services to increase.
