Agenda item 7A was unanimously approved to allow use of autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) wall panels for the construction of a 40,000 sq ft commercial building at 301 Graham Road.
(This new building material is not an approved material in the 2015 Building Code. AAC has been used in Europe and is now being utilized more in the United States. A few commercial structures and hotels in the DFW area have used the AAC panels.)
Agenda item 7B was unanimously approved by Council for a landscape maintenance agreement with TxDOT related to the grant New Fairview has been awarded.
(The southbound frontage road at the FM407/US287 overpass is an area that has been selected for a TxDOT Green Ribbon Grant Project. This is the first such project in Wise County. TxDOT will grant $376,000 towards the project with the agreement that New Fairview will maintain the project after the first year. A TxDot contractor will do all landscaping maintenance for the first year.)
Agenda item 7C- The New Fairview City Council unanimously approved a resolution opposing a TCEQ permit for a proposed landfill in Aurora, Texas.
(Chisholm Trail Disposal, LLC has applied for a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) permit #2421 for the construction of a Type IV municipal solid waste landfill that will primarily receive construction and demolition waste, brush, and rubbish from Wise and surrounding counties. Proposed location is 291 Private Road 4674, Aurora, Texas. The concern is the proposed landfill site is located north of the West Fork of the Trinity River and surface water would drain to Eagle Mountain Lake. Contaminates associated with solid waste facilities have the possibility of creating risks of polluting groundwater and surface water. Landfills generate a variety of nuisance conditions. Also the proposed landfill will generate substantial truck traffic at the intersection of County Road 4668 and FM718.)
